Discover Lansford

Welcome to Lansford, PA sign.

The town of Lansford is a county-border borough in Carbon County, Pennsylvania with a population of 3,798. It is located 10 miles from Lehighton and is on the northwestern fringe of the Lehigh Valley and the southern end of Coal Region in the Pocono Mountains. It shares the border of Carbon and Schuylkill County with neighboring Coaldale.

The valley in which Lansford resides was owned and subdivided into separate lots by the Lehigh Coal & Navigation Company, which began development of structures in this area by 1827.

Lansford saw growth with the development of local anthracite coal mines. It was named after Asa Lansford Foster, who was known as an advocate for merging small towns that developed around these coal mines.
