Wildlands Conservancy - Get Out! for Wellness: Pennypacker Mills
We will learn about and explore this Montgomery County Historic Site that covers 175 acres. Our hike is mostly through fields on grassy paths and partly along the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek, on a woods trail with some roots and rocks. Our route connects with the 20-mile Perkiomen Trail. When we return to the farm, those interested will enjoy a guided tour of the large farmhouse. This 2.5-mile hike is suitable for all ages. Dress in layers for the weather. Wear sturdy, comfortable shoes. Dogs are allowed on leash on the property, but not in the farmhouse. Bathrooms are near the parking lot. Afterwards, you might care to visit nearby Ott’s Exotic Plants (861 Gravel Pike, Schwenksville) and their famous “mountain of mums.” Their greenhouse is a gem, too. DIRECTIONS: Take I-476 South to Exit 31: PA-63 and Sumneytown Pike in Kulpsville. Merge right onto PA-63/Sumneytown Pike for 0.3 mile and turn left onto Old Forty-Foot Road. Go 3.1 miles and turn right onto PA 73/W Skippack Pike for 4.7 miles to Haldeman Road. Turn right onto Haldeman Road for 0.2 mile and after the barn, turn slight left. Pass the schoolhouse and the first parking lot. We will meet in the second parking lot, near the bathrooms.
