Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Locust Lake State Park
Our hike will circle the lake on the level Bicycle Trail. Halfway around the lake, we’ll take the pleasant Oak Leaf Trail up about 500 feet in elevation gain through deciduous forest and beside Locust Creek. There are 281 campsites at the State Park, playgrounds, amphitheater, boat rental, and fishing. The camp store sells ice cream! After the Tuscarora War (1711-1713) in North Carolina, the Tuscarora Indians passed through this area on their way to find refuge in New York state. Wear sturdy, comfy shoes. Hiking poles might be a good idea. If the weather is nice, wear your swimsuit so you can jump in the lake after our hike. (The changing rooms are under construction. They are scheduled to be finished by Fall!) Pets must be on a leash and under control at all times. This walk is part of the Get Out! For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. ADDRESS: 220 Locust Lake Road, Barnesville PA 18214. GPS: 40.78499, -76.11921 DIRECTIONS: We’ll park and meet in the Visitor/Day Use Parking area near the park entrance. Questions: Arianna Kohler, AKohler@wildlandspa.org
