Wildlands Conservancy: Get Out for Wellness: Camp William Penn
Camp William Penn, part of Delaware State Forest, contains a variety of habitats, including an 8-acre pond. Due to its abundance of early successional habitat, this area is very popular for bird watchers. We’ll plan on doing both the Cemetery and Hemlock Loops, about two miles total. A small, well-kept 19th-century cemetery is visible from the south edge of the trail. Gradual climbs and descents, along with mostly wide, grassy trails make this an easy to moderate hike. GPS coordinates: Specific directions vary widely depending on your starting point, but once you get to Snowhill Road, turn onto Hiawatha Lane (a right if coming from 402N and a left if coming from Clarks Rd). There is a large rock and a sign that can only be seen if coming from the west. Look for our program sign to find your way to the parking lot.
