Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Austin T. Blakeslee
The highlight of this 130-acre natural area is the 2.3-mile Creek Trail, with postcard-worthy views of the Tobyhanna Creek all along the way, including nice waterfalls. We'll head back via the Highland Trail. This park, part of Monroe County’s Park system, was once an amusement park. During the 1955 Flood, the Tobyhanna Creek wiped out the Harrison Amusement Park. You’ll see some of the remnants—the foundation for the roller rink and an artesian well. This Natural Area is a Regional Park in Tobyhanna Township purchased through the collaboration of Tunkhannock and Tobyhanna Townships. Dogs on leash are welcome—scoop your pooch’s poop. This trail is not stroller or wheel-chair friendly. It’s mostly a narrow, single track, woodland path. Dress appropriately for the weather. Wear comfortable footgear and bring a walking stick or hiking poles. Restrooms are available. This walk is free and is part of the Get Out For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. Please register online.
