MEETING: Carbon County Business / Education Partnership Meeting
The Business Education Partnership, led by Steve Ohl, Chair and the CCEDC is continuing monthly meetings. The Partnership shall exist to promote collaboration between business and education, strengthen workforce quality, develop career opportunities, and foster a culture of lifelong learning in the Carbon County region. Through strategic, collaborative, and innovative action with business, education, government employment services, economic development and community entities, the Partnership shall maximize resources, enhance communication, and develop a workforce prepared to meet the needs of a growing 21st century economy.
The mission of The Partnership shall be to promote collaboration between business and education in Carbon County.
At our first meeting of the year on September 23, 2021 we discussed many topics impacting our community, businesses and students. We hope that you join us on October 28th to continue the conversation and help us affect change! One of the top discussion items from September was working on ways we can improve the economy and quality of life to encourage young people to stay here in Carbon County after graduating high school and to come back if they have already left the area. (Asking, why did you leave? What will it take to keep you here? Etc.)
Dr. Clever from Lehighton School District is working on bringing a few students with him to the meeting to help add to the conversation and assist us in understanding the needs of students in our community.
Other topics discussed included; transportation, mental health support, housing, and childcare. We hope to discuss these more in depth!
In hopes to increase awareness about this meeting and the importance of the outcomes, we are asking that you share with your coworkers, neighbors and friends. If anyone has questions as to weather or not they should attend, they can reach out to myself and/or Steve Ohl directly.
A few more items…
If you are a veteran participant on this committee and have benefited from participating I am seeking testimonials as to how involvement has been a benefit to you and your company. Please feel free to send one or two sentences my way to share with others!
We are looking at hosting a job fair… dates and high visibility location ideas are needed – please bring them to our meeting!
Are you a TIKTOK expert? Please let us know, we could use your help to spread the word of the Business Education Partnership!
We are seeing a slate of nominees for officers. If you are interested in serving in a greater capacity we would love to add your name to the slate – contact Steve!
See you there!
