Panther Valley Elementary School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
July 26, 2018- Join the Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) for the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting Celebration of the Panther Valley Elementary School Playground.  The Panther Valley Elementary School serves students in grades K-3 from the boroughs of Nesquehoning, Coaldale, Lansford, and Summit Hill.
Join us on Thursday, August 23rd from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm (ribbon cutting at 5:30 pm).  There will be local food vendors and local youth recreation organizations on hand at the ribbon cutting ceremony.  After the ribbon is cut, children in attendance will be invited to be the first users of the brand new playground.  The playground will include a climbing structure, monkey bars, and multiple slides.  The playground will be used daily by Panther Valley Elementary students during the school year and be open until 5pm for families to enjoy the playground after school lets out.
The playground equipment is a welcome addition to the school. “It allows students to get physical activity that strengthens their fine and gross motor skills.” Robert Palazzo, school principal said.  “ It allows them to play and learn cooperative play skills.”
The Panther Valley Elementary School was the recipient of a $15,000 Let’s Play! Grant by KaBOOM! And Dr. Pepper Snapple Group.  The remaining funds were donated by a number of local businesses, including ABC Automatic Sprinkler Company Inc., Ametek Inc., Carbon County Community Foundation, Climb-A-Lot, China Wok, F&M True Value Hardware, Kistler Transportation, Kovatch Ford of Nesquehoning, Nesquehoning Auxillary Post, Panther Valley Elementary Parent Teacher Organization, Penn’s Peak, Siberline Manufacturing, St. Luke’s Miners Campus, and the Nesquehoning Memorial VFW.  Additionally, families from the school donated funds through community based fundraising.  A community build will be held in early August, where members of the community will work together to install the playground.
