30th Annual Jim Thorpe Winterfest
30TH ANNUAL JIM THORPE WINTERFEST TO TAKE PLACE PRESIDENTS' DAY
WEEKEND. THIS YEARS THEME: FIRE AND ICE HERALDS THE SNOWBALL YOGA AND DANCE PARTY TO DEFEAT WINTER BLUES.
JIM THORPE, PA - For Jim Thorpe, this year marks a thirty-year milestone for the annual Winterfest celebration in the historic business district. Winterfest was created to drive people out of mid-winter doldrums and keep them connected and active through music and events in the business community. Event dates are February 17-19, 2023.
This year there will feature a luminary walk to kick off the weekend on Friday February 17th. Broadway and Race street will be aglow with candles making it a romantic evening or fun outside activity for the family. Live entertainment at the Mauch Chunk Opera House will include Creedence Revived and The ELO Tribute Show. Train rides, horse-drawn carriage rides, fire and ice-themed food and drink specials at participating restaurants and a Mug Walk which encourages shoppers to walk trails designated on Broadway and Race street to redeem promotional items will also take place the entire weekend.
The Snowball, a new addition to Winterfest, is a morning yoga and dance celebration hosted by Fairy Moon Yoga and sponsored by Lehigh Valley Hospital -Carbon Saturday 9am-12pm. Yoga and dance are two powerful practices that release endorphins and encourage connection to self and others. The Snowball is a dedication to the origin of the town’s winter festival and to the owner of the Mauch Chunk Ballroom where the event is being held, Mr. John Drury who is an avid dancer. The Snowball kicks off two days of Winter Wonderland activities at the Ballroom located at 41 W. Broadway which will include vendors, baked goods and selfie stations from 12-5pm.
Tickets for the Mugwalk will go on sale January 25th while supplies last.
