Job Description

Company Description: The CCEDC is a member-centric organization. We are committed to providing our members with a STRONG Chamber and plenty of opportunities for networking as well as for business and community growth. The backbone of our organization is our leadership: board of directors, CCEDC staff and volunteer committee chairs; however, the true strength of the CCEDC comes from our volunteers, sponsors and members. In addition, we are also continuously partnering and collaborating with other like-minded organizations, such as: the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce to not only expand the reach and opportunities for our members but to also add to our organization’s STRENGTH.
We encourage our CCCEDC members to get involved, share their talents, lend their expertise and let their voices be heard. TOGETHER, we can remain STRONG, create positive change and achieve incredible things.
Economic Development in Carbon County began in the 1950’s with the establishment of the Bureau of Economic Development.  Over the years, there have been two staff members, the Director, and an Administrative Assistant. However, in the spring of 2013, the Carbon County Economic Development Corporation merged with the Carbon County Chamber and became a privatized organization called The Carbon Chamber & Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC). Its office is located in downtown Lehighton. The primary functions of the Department (Bureau) have been providing access to financing, participation in the State Business Retention and Expansion Program, and providing business consulting services through regional partners.
Job Description: This exciting internship will provide the student with many unique opportunities not available in the average office setting. The Lehighton Office works with our members and the community on their marketing and community development initiatives. The intern will not only network with members of the County administration, but with owners of small and large businesses in Carbon County. The experiences and relationships gained through this unpaid internship will certainly equip any student with desirable professional qualities and to set them apart in an ever-changing job market.
