There’s still time to join Care Net of Carbon County’s VIRTUAL 5K Fun Run/Walk through Sunday, June 13^th.
This self-timed race is a family-friendly fundraiser, with all proceeds benefitting Care Net, a community resource providing support to those facing pregnancy, and encouraging healthy choices in sexuality, relationships, and parenting.
 “We decided to use a virtual format again this year,” Suzi DeMara, Executive Director said. “to provide a safe event that’s convenient and flexible, too. You can complete the 5K anytime and anywhere through Sunday, June 13^th.
As an essential service Care Net continued to provide essential services like baby supplies and diapers to clients during the COVID 19 crisis. They also continued to provide education and support through in-person and phone sessions to accommodate their client needs. They are hoping the public will join in this “on your own” event to help provide support for these services.
Participants can register in advance and then walk or run 5 kilometers at their own convenience anytime and anywhere Saturday, May 29^th through June 13^th. They can time themselves, then submit their time to Care Net (optional). “Runners and walkers can log their distance on treadmill or anywhere, even out of state,” said DeMara. “We’re hoping the convenience and flexibility of this event will encourage more people to participate.”
Register online or download a registration form at carenetcarbon.org. Or call Care Net at 610-379-0411 to request a form via mail. Registration fee is $25 for adults and $15 for children under 12. Participants are also encouraged to email or text family and friends to ask if they would sponsor them to run or walk for Care Net.  
Care Net exists to build healthy families through education and support; classes/groups include Parenting, Anger Management, Marriage/Relationships, and Teen Group. Offices are located in Lehighton and Nesquehoning.  Clients are served without cost and without regard to age, race, income, nationality, religious affiliation disability, or other arbitrary circumstances.
