Starting July 11, the National Canal Museum will reopen for its 50th year. The National Canal Museum again invites guests to interact with history in Hugh Moore Park. Visitors will be able to engage with classic exhibits, explore historic canal towpath, paddle the canal, and get a first look at the 2020 special exhibit, “Where Creativity Flows: Two Centuries of Art Inspired by Our Canals.” The 2020 special exhibit also marks a shift for the National Canal Museum, as this beloved history museum debuts its first art exhibition. “Where Creativity Flows” displays instances of canals in art and popular culture celebrating the many ways our historic canals defined the region through art, books and even movies. To ensure the safety, health and enjoyment of all guests, staff and volunteers, the National Canal Museum has modified various operations. At this time, the museum will invite 25 visitors in at a time. Masks will be required of all guests, staff and volunteers. Moreover, Museum operations have been modified to limit contact. Visitors will also sign-in so the National Canal Museum can accurately and efficiently trace potential exposures.
