Do you love folk art or do you practice a craft (art, music, recipe, etc) that has been passed down from generation to generation? Folk arts are expressions of collective community identity that have proven their value in sustaining communities throughout decades. They are shaped within families, neighborhoods, and communities, being passed down from one generation to the next. The Folk Art Alliance at the Walk in Art Center in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania is an alliance of artists and community stakeholders who work together to document, celebrate, and pass on the folk arts of Schuylkill, Berks, and Carbon Counties. In this presentation, Program Director Jenna Winton will discuss how the alliance supports folk and traditional arts and why it is so important to our communities. Join us for a great educational evening! The Carbon County Art League is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that’s supports the arts and artists in and around Carbon County.
