SUMMARY:2020 D&L Trail Mansion House Bridge 1 Year Anniversary Celebration
DESCRIPTION:You're Invited...Mansion House Bridge 1 Year Anniversary Celebration\n\nBike from the Bridge\n\nWalk to the Weigh Lock\n\n\n\nThe Mansion House pedestrian Bridge has been open to the public for one year and we are inviting you to celebrate with us! \n\n\n\nPlease join us to hear how the bridge has been serving the community for the last year and take a step back in history as we will learn more about the sights along the D&L Trail in Carbon County including the Weigh Lock! \n\n\n\nFollowing a brief anniversary ceremony\, anyone who wishes to walk to the Weigh Lock or bike from the bridge is welcome to do so! There will be plenty of history along the way!\n\n\n	\n Bridge to Weigh Lock: ~0.6 miles one way / 1.2 mile roundtrip\n	\n	\n Bridge to Weissport: ~3.5 miles one way / 7 miles roundtrip\n	\n\n\nBecoming a member of the D&L National Heritage Corridor grants you a full year of incredible benefits such as discounts\, invitations to special events\, and free admission to associated attractions. Partnership allows us to restore\, construct\, and maintain the nationally significant trail. Whether at the individual or corporate sponsorship level\, we aim to further our mission to explain the significant historical influence the area had in our country and general critical funds to assist us in our continued revitalization efforts. You can acquire your membership with the D&L on the event registration page or at the event! Additional membership options and details available here.\n\n\n\nThe Mansion House Bridge Project was conceived in the D&L's 1992 Management Action Plan and was funded by a $4.1 million grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources provided funding for engineering and design. The 200-foot through truss bridge was assembled and installed by Latona Trucking of Pittston.\n\nThe final part of the project was completed in 2019\, which cost around $1 million\, involved construction of a retaining wall and trail connection on its east side near the Jim Thorpe wastewater treatment plant.\n\nD&L officials credited several partners including the PennDOT\, Carbon County\, the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources\, the state Department of Community and Economic Development\, Jim Thorpe Borough\, and the William Penn Foundation with helping to bring the project to completion.\n\n\n\n\n\nBy clicking register \, you are acknowledging that an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present.
