Galen Glen Winery Fires Up The Competition
Chambourcin Weekend kicks off registration for the Chili Cook Off for local firefighters

255 Winter Mountain Drive, Andreas, PA. On October 20 and 21, Galen Glen Winery will be offering a complimentary petite pairing of chili and wine made from the Chambourcin grape. This event is held every year in conjunction with the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail's Chambourcin Weekend celebration. The chili--Sweet & Spicy Mango Chili--features pork and beef, sausage and a host of other fresh ingredients to delight the palate. The recipe is the creation of Joe Sweeney and Jake Snyder, the Galen Glen 2018 Chili Cook Off Winners. Joe is the Executive Chef for Sodexo at Vanguard in Philadelphia and Jake is the Executive Chef at Notch Eight in Jim Thorpe.

In January of 2019, Galen Glen Winery will host their Fifth Annual Chili Cook Off to benefit the West Penn Fire Company. During Chambourcin Weekend, applications will be available for those who would like to complete. Tasting Room Manager, Kathy Matson states, "There are only five chef spaces available. They fill fast and usually there is a waiting list to be among the contestants." The competition is open to professional and home chefs. 2018 was the first year that an entry from professional chefs won the competition. If you think you have a winning recipe, stop by the winery October 20 or 21 and pick up an application to throw your chef's cap into the ring of fire. There is no charge to enter and the winner of January's competition will receive bragging rights and their recipe will be used in a future winery pairing event. There are additional prizes for the winner, runner up and all five entrants.

Galen Glen Winery is located in the beautiful rolling hills of Andreas Pennsylvania. The vineyard is on the family's double-century farm and is full of history.
